Farwa Moledina

Farwa Moledina is a Birmingham-based artist whose work centers conversations between faith, physical space, and cultural experience. Her work draws on cross-cultural influences including her own Yemeni-Tanzanian heritage and experiences from her formative years growing up in Dubai. Moledina's interests lie in confronting the absence of Muslim women's histories in UK cultural spheres through intimate explorations of motherhood and critiques of colonial and Orientalist mythologies.

Her work features recurring patterns influenced by characteristics of Islamic design - symmetry, abstraction, and recurrence - often materialising as expansive textile-based installations suspended in space, framed compositions, or architectural spaces inspired by her Arab and Muslim heritage.

She has exhibited widely in the UK, including at Ikon Gallery (Birmingham), Arnolfini Arts (Bristol), and Modern Art Oxford, and internationally at Lahore Biennale (Pakistan) and 421 (Abu Dhabi). Upcoming exhibitions include a solo show at Apt Architects London, and a group show at Museum Escher in the Palace, Netherlands.

Her work is held in collections including the Government Art Collection, Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery, New Art Gallery Walsall, and private collections.

Farwa Moledina lives and works in Birmingham.
