Amber Khokhar

Amber Khokhar is a London-based artist and lecturer specialising in art and design, with over two decades of teaching Islamic, Sacred, and Traditional art in the UK and internationally. Her work is research-driven and archive-led, drawing from historical collections and inherited wisdom to create art that feels both timeless and distinctly contemporary.

Working across architecture, ceramics, curating, design, and painting, her practice is rigorous and wide-ranging. She has delivered major royal commissions for His Majesty King Charles III, including a 40-metre carpet for the Picture Gallery at Buckingham Palace and a stained-glass ceiling for his library at Dumfries House, Scotland. Public commissions include Toynbee Hall, Aintree Hospital, Head Heart Hand, and a 30-metre ceramic wall for Cockpit Arts, London. Her clients include Rolls-Royce, the Mercers’ Company, and the Clothworkers’ Company.

Her paintings have been exhibited internationally including at the Museum of Islamic Arts, Kuala Lumpur; the Queens Museum, New York; the Ayala Museum, Manila; the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition and the William Morris Gallery London. Last year she was selected by Graham Crowley, (winner of the John Moores Painting Prize), for his Studio Show, and her painting ‘Seven Valleys’ is currently on view at the Ismaili Centre.

Earlier in her  career, Amber designed record covers for Pink Floyd and JOI, completed commissions for Penguin Books, and led the branding and interior design of the Design Council’s Young Designers Centre at Haymarket, Piccadilly.

She studied Design at Central Saint Martins, the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw, and Indian Art at Harvard University.

Amber Khokhar lives and works in London.
